I think we have taken three significant steps toward improving the lagoon’s health by setting up the STEP system, developing the stormwater utility program, and by joining the lagoon coalition.

The lagoon’s health is a key asset to for our community and is fundamental to our recreation, property values and our choosing Vero Beach as home. It needs to be healthy.

The City has joined the lagoon coalition which is active in developing and funding initiatives with our neighboring counties.

The STEP System (a reasonable alternative to traditional gravity sewer) is being installed on schedule and has a backlog of requests to be hooked up.

The Stormwater Utility is in the final stages of design, and should be ready to vote on by November or December.

We are making good progress, but we could always do more, faster.
